Included are some questions to pose to your students as they examine the various
documents contained on this CD The following questions are to assign students
for further study and research of some of the most important documents ever
written. These questions are only to spark your creativity. Feel free to alter
these questions in any way you see fit.
The questions are "document-vague" for a reason: The questions were
created to not be specific to any one document or documents to allow you assign
those questions that best suit your needs.

Questions
- What is the purpose of this (or these) documents? (For example:
what does Hammurabi say is the purpose of the code? What does Jefferson say
is the purpose for the Declaration of Independence?)
- Pick two, three, four, etc., documents, then compare and
contrast them. What are 3 similarities and 3 differences?
- Analyze the documents and determine which rights were important
then.
- Explain what is meant by __(core democratic value phrase:
trial by jury, liberty, etc.)_____ in the following documents?
- Criticize the documents, i.e. what was left out, what more
could have been done, is there any internal hypocrisy, etc.?
- Enumerate 10 core democratic values and which documents does
it occur in? Which is the earliest source (where does it appear first) for
each of those CDVs?
- Prove _(any CDVS)_ by reading document Y provided. For example,
“where do our rights come from? Prove it!
- Summarize document X.
- Outline document X.
- Trace the development of habeas corpus through time with
these documents, trace freedom of religion, trial by jury, and other rights.
Where did they originate? How many documents contain this right?
- Who is the author? Do some research and give a brief history
and biography.
- Read the Declaration of Independence, and name 3 CDVs. What
documents did Jefferson borrow his ideas from?
- Describe the situations and events surrounding the writing
this (any one) document?
- Precisely explain what is meant by pursuit of happiness,
self-evident, natural rights, freedom of religion; support your argument with
2 other documents.
- State your opinion on a current issue and support it using
Doc. X, Y, and Z. Or using any 3 documents
- Discuss, analyze, or enumerate the biblical sources for
Document X, Y, or Z.
